The perfect job may not exist, but this one is pretty close, according to Deere & Co.
The Illinois-based manufacturer is on the hunt to find its first-ever “chief tractor officer” to be the face of John Deere’s social media and travel the U.S. capturing the unique and unexpected ways that farming and construction impact everyday lives.
The position is part of Deere's efforts to increase brand awareness among younger generations as farmers age out of the industry.
According to Deere’s job listing, the ideal candidate may film the grounds crew preparing turf at an iconic Chicago baseball stadium one day, and create a TikTok POV of how roads are maintained at Yellowstone National Park the next.
To build hype around the role, Deere has enlisted help from NFL quarterback Brock Purdy, of the San Francisco 49ers, to find the ideal candidate.
In a Youtube video, a number of social media influencers and celebrities made brief appearances expressing their interest in the role, including NBA player Tyrese Haliburton, of the Indiana Pacers, and Tariq, also known as Corn Kid.
“For me, I really like tractors,” said Tariq, who became a social media sensation after sharing his love of corn in a widely-shared TikTok. “I can’t imagine a more beautiful thing!”
To apply, candidates must submit a short-form video with their pitch for the position, showcasing the creativity, humor and passion they’d bring to the job.
Deere is looking for someone with “main character energy” and a knack for creating “face-melting social media content,” according to the submission website.
The ideal candidate must also be willing to get their boots dirty.
